Last year, we plundered the Fifth Column archives and published an article about iconic punk t-shirts 👕🧷 It proved to be really popular and generated a fantastic response. Lots of great comments and thoughts about the old punk days 😎 So, we thought it was high time to once more raid the rails of our secret stockroom and share some more classic punk t-shirts from the Fifth Column vault 🤩
We’ve been around a long time now, but it never hurts to think back to where you came from. These days, our name is synonymous with a wide range of services – screen printing, direct to garment and embroidery – but printing t-shirts for punk bands was where it started for us. 🎶☠

Education is key in our industry 🤓 and with these tees you can actually see and feel how each option comes out 🤩
Plastisol is great for the print colour to be consistent a wide range of fabrics and colours 👍 Waterbased and discharge is considered to be more eco friendly but the print colours throughout a batch can vary 🎨

It’s great working with people who want to make a difference ✊ No Sweat tees are produced in worker’s co-operatives run by ex-sweatshop workers and the profits are used to fight sweatshop labour. Next weekend our friends and neighbours @pressure

Next weekend our friends and neighbours @pressuredropbrw will be hosting a big fundraiser for the Aussie bushfire crisis.
🐨🐨🐨💔💔💔
It will be a mini beer festival with kegs (kindly donated) from @verdantbrew @deyabrewery @lefthandedgiantbrewing @northbrewco and of course their own amazing stuff 🍻🍻
A proper Aussie sausage sizzle & bake sale, coffee stall & a pizza party with all proceeds going to the fundraiser.
Not to mention the MEGA raffle with loads of beery (and not so beery) prizes.

We're proud to be a living wage-accredited employer and have been paying the London Living Wage since 2013 🙌🤝
This week (Monday 11th to Sunday 17th November 2019) is Living Wage Week and, amongst other things, sees the announcement of the new hourly wage rates. That’s £9.30 for the UK as a whole and £10.75 for the higher cost of living in London.

It struck us as an appropriate moment to restate our support for the Living Wage movement, celebrate its achievements, and also think about how much further we need to go as a society. How great it would be if more employers were in a position to support the campaign. Better still, how great it would be if there was no longer any need because the official minimum wage made the campaign obsolete.

Working with like minded people has always been important for us at Fifth Column, it helps us to build solid relationships 🤝🙌
It’s our pleasure that Ed @earthlinged behind Unity Diner @unitydiner chose us to print t-shirts for their non-profit restaurant which has recently moved to a shiny new and much bigger location.

They chose the most eco-conscious option so we printed on ethically sourced, organic cotton t-shirts and tote bags printed with water-based inks.

If you’ve been keeping an eye on your news feed or watching television recently, you may have seen articles about Sky Ocean Rescue and the Exxpedition Round the World mission. A women-only crew setting out on a two-year sea voyage, the purpose of which is to analyse and examine the impact of plastic pollution and toxicity in our oceans 🌊🌊🌊
Fifth Column are supporters and official suppliers of Exxpedition. We were only too happy to print the t-shirts and equally pleased to see them being worn during the ship renaming ceremony. We love screen printing, it’s where we started, but some printing jobs take things to another level. They simultaneously put a smile on your face and make you think about serious issues. Print vs. Embroidery? 🤔 It’s a question we’

Fifth Column started when a group of friends decid

Fifth Column started when a group of friends decided to design and print – by hand – punk rock t-shirts for bands like X-ray Spex, The Clash, The Jam and The Damned. After creating the artwork on paper and printing with waterbased inks the t-shirts were cured in tumble dryers at a laundrette on Kilburn High Road.

Today, these screen-printed t-shirts have become iconic and we at Fifth Column have evolved into one of the country’s top custom garment printers and embroiderers. After 35 years working from a space above the landmark Kentish Town station, we moved to our 11,000 sq ft facility in Tottenham Hale in 2013.

Just like the old days, we’re still a close-knit team driven by an eco-ethical conscience. Our clients range from small t-shirt startups, streetwear brands and breweries to music merchandising companies, cosmetic brands and charities. Our equipment may now be cutting-edge, but we’re as committed to the detail and finish as we’ve always been❤💛💚

It is no secret that here at Fifth Column we love

It is no secret that here at Fifth Column we love craft beer 😍
We also love helping people in need so this year we teamed up again with the great guys behind @craftbeercares to produce some merch 👕 for their Craft Beer Cares London event from the 19th to the 21st of July 2019 🍻 Following a highly successful event last year when they raised over £10,000 for London-based anti-violence charity Art Against Knives; proceeds from this event will be donated to local homeless charity - Hackney Winter Night Shelter.

The event will take place at the Hackney-based London Fields Brewery, and will feature beer from over 30 breweries including Beavertown, Cloudwater and Denmark’s Dry and Bitter and Mikkeller.
